Meet Daniel Whitehead – Junior Cloud Administrator at MemberSuite
What’s your position at MemberSuite?
I am a Jr. Cloud Administrator with the Infrastructure team. My main responsibilities consist of maintaining the infrastructure, providing desktop support, and controlling software access.
Where are you from?
I am originally from Marietta, GA, but when I was a sophomore in high school I moved to Monroeville, AL to live with my grandmother so I would be eligible for in-state tuition to Auburn University. I always felt a little cut short from this city so it’s nice to be back.
How did you get into IT?
While at Auburn, I bounced around a few different majors in my early years until my sister suggested I try Management Information Systems (MIS). I’ve always been good with computers and technology in general so I made the switch and it wasn’t long before I knew I’d made the right decision. I got a Bachelor’s degree in MIS with a focus on infrastructure, did a couple of internships, and started working at MemberSuite in May of 2018.
What should we know about you?
- I tend to joke around quite a bit, but at the end of the day I like to work hard and believe anything worth doing shouldn’t come easy.
- I love Auburn football to the point it may be a strain on my health during certain seasons. War Eagle!
What is one of your hobbies?
I love playing golf and have since I was very little. I remember growing up I had these USGA kids golf sets that were color coded by age group and I worked my way through them until my parents finally let me have an adult set of clubs.
What is your favorite project you’ve worked on at MemberSuite?
I’ve worked on so many that a lot of them blend together, but one that stands out was writing a python script to automate our job execution servers. It was nice to get to use something I spent long hours learning in college to save our team a lot of unnecessary work and stress.
What is the best part of working at MemberSuite?
I see this same answer on every spotlight, but it has to be the people! Everyone works hard to make sure this train keeps rolling, but there’s no shortage of brief conversation and even laughter between the people in the office.
