Association Brain Food Weekly: 9.30.16

cautious turtle

The future of learning has been on my mind lately. After reading Elizabeth Engel and Shelly Alcorn’s paper, The Association Role in the New Education Paradigm, I was inspired to write my own take on how associations could transform higher education. Why not dream big or dream differently—that’s how to design your own future.

After publishing that post, I saw the news about LinkedIn’s new site, LinkedIn Learning. Here’s the description from TechCrunch:

“…an ambitious e-learning portal tailored to individuals, but also catering to businesses looking to keep training their employees, and beyond that even educational institutions exploring e-learning courses.”

Follow the money, folks. I hate to think that ten years from now associations will look back and say, “If only we had taken the initiative to double down on education back then, we’d still have <fill in the blank>.”

I’m a believer in the Power of A, but I also believe in the entrepreneurial mindset that seizes opportunities to create value. Associations must adopt that mindset or, well, I hate to think.

Onward! Here’s the list of this week’s webinars. If your company has a webinar scheduled in the next few weeks, please send me the link. I’ll be happy to feature it as long as it’s not too product-centric.
