Association Brain Food Weekly: 10.27.17

professional development for CAEs and association management

The weekly list of free professional development events for the association community…

professional development for CAEs and association management

A few weekends ago at Association Charrette, I talked to the group about studies from around the world that proved what you and I have always intuitively known: walking in the forest is good for us. Aeon explains the benefits of pungent conifer oils (per the Russians), forest-bathing (per the Japanese), and more.

As a freelancer, I agree with WBT Systems that associations should prepare their membership model and professional development programs for the growth of the freelance economy.

Make a checklist out of this one: Kylee Coffman at DelCor Technology Solutions explains how to make Google love your association website.

The Halfway Rule,” as explained by Amanda Kaiser at Smooth the Path, is one that no association should forget, especially when it comes to dealing with newer and younger members.

Here’s an article that will give you the heebie-jeebies before Halloween. Bob Harris, CAE, shares four stories about association boards that were doomed from the start.

That’s it for good reads, now it’s time for this week’s list of free professional development for the association community.

If your organization has a webinar scheduled in the near future, please send me the link. I’ll be happy to feature it as long as it’s not too product-centric.
