Statement On Draft Bill Package Introduced By House Energy & Commerce Committee Republicans

Washington, DC – Today, Internet Association President and CEO K. Dane Snowden released the following statement on the package of discussion draft bills introduced by House Energy & Commerce Committee Republicans:

“Internet Association is deeply concerned about discussion draft efforts to weaken Section 230, which is the underpinning of a safe and open internet. Section 230 empowers platforms to set and enforce community guidelines, ban bad actors, and screen for illegal and illicit content. If the future is a safe and open internet, Section 230 is the answer, not the problem. Internet Association looks forward to working closely with House Republicans and all Members of Congress to create policies and initiatives that foster innovation, promote economic growth, and empower people through a safe and open internet.”
