Following some preconference activities and events, NEMA 2016 begins on Tuesday with concurrent sessions, followed by a mid-morning keynote. After a welcome from NEMA’s president and executive director, a variety of artists will present four dynamic short performances. Also worth noting:

Hands on.  The Demonstration Station is the place to get fast-moving how-to tips on mastering the latest museum field trends. Topics include producing community content, developing metrics and data tools for effective museum evaluation, and the basics of mold-making and casting.

Give back. This year’s conference happens to take place over Veterans Day, which is why NEMA decided to make the conference charity Homes for the Brave, an organization that provides shelter and services to homeless veterans. Attendees can make an online donation when registering or donate onsite.

On air. NEMA has a popular podcast series called Museum People. On Friday morning, hosts Marieke and Dan will broadcast a special live show featuring in-depth interviews, lively banter, and a few fun surprises. Attendees will will try to stump the hosts with their questions.
