What is it? With the new school year just a few weeks away, ASCD (formerly known as the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) is offering its members a wide array of discounts on items at Office Depot and OfficeMax—some as high as 80 percent.

Why it works: Simply put, teachers go through a lot of pens, paper, and markers each year. “As an educator, we know you want to make every dollar count, and this benefit is open for your use all year long for school, office, and all the supplies you need in your classrooms and schools,” ASCD explains on its website.

Other perks: ASCD members receive numerous other benefits besides discounts on chalk and toner. The association offers free books to its members several times a year, and other perks include a job center, webinars, and insurance discounts.
