Webinar pricing/sponsorships. If you are interested in the current trends in charging for webinar registrations and sponsorships, I urge you (or the person at your organization who knows your webinars best) to participate in a Leading Learning/Tagoras survey, which closes tonight.

Remote work/life boundaries. Achurch Consulting explains why work/life boundaries are essential, especially for people working remotely. They suggest tactics for establishing boundaries, such as shut-down rituals, and protocol for meetings and communications.

Mixed-age learning programs. Different generations have a lot to teach each other, says WBT Systems. I can attest to that after spending three days hanging out with my 11- and 13-year-old nephews. Eye-opening. WBT’s post describes why your association would want to offer mixed-age learning programs and suggests how to get started.

AMS data and reports. MemberSuite explains how to ensure your AMS reports provide the data your co-workers and volunteer leaders need for insight and decisions. Their advice covers everything from determining what data to collect to getting members to update their profiles.

Membership benchmark data. Marketing General Inc. recently released their 2021 Membership Marketing Benchmarking Report, one of my annual must-reads. I haven’t read this year’s yet, but fully intend to, since I regularly use its findings in client posts.

Digital nomads. My honey dreams of renting or selling the house, putting our stuff in storage and hitting the road in an RV so we can hike all over the country. I love the idea but am I ready for it? Not sure. At the Harvard Business Review, Miles Everson, Steve King and Carolyn Ockels say every company needs a digital nomad policy—which makes me wonder… do you know of any digital nomads in the association community?

Quick hits

  • The time has come for a four-day work week. (Stowe Boyd)
  • Kill a stupid rule: an amazing way to reduce red tape. (Nick Skillicorn, Idea to Value)
  • How to make your to-do list less overwhelming… try an “enough” list. (Josh Spector)

Good eats

Skip down to the list of free webinars if you prefer takeout. If you’re a home cook, check out the irregularly published In The Kitchen posts on my Grabbing the Gusto blog.

  • I spent time up in Massachusetts last week with my family enjoying local pizza, my brother’s carnitas, and Italian cookies and pastries, so time in my NC kitchen was limited. Before I left, I made baked Spanish mackerel with a barbecue-maple-soy glaze for dinner. On the side, a summer squash sauté with carrots, broccoli stems, red bell and corno di toro peppers, bacon, corn, tomatoes and basil.
  • Upon my return, I relied on my freezer and Food Lion’s freezer for gochujang burgers, frozen onion rings, and two packs of frozen “Asian medley” vegetables sautéed with chile sauce, sunflower shoots and Thai basil.

Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email.

Here are the educational events scheduled for next week. If you have a free webinar or event coming up, please send me the link by Wednesday afternoon the week before it’s scheduled. I’ll be happy to feature it as long as it’s not too product centric.
