Daily Buzz: Know Your Shape

A personality test featured at ASAE's Technology Conference & Expo requires only a little bit of drawing. Also: reading materials that highlight tech conference takeaways.

Let’s say you’re presented with a circle, a square, a triangle, and a squiggly line. You’re asked to draw one of each—but two of one. Which one do you draw twice, and what does it say about your working style?

During “Squaring the Circle: Making New Technology Fit Within Organizational Culture,” a Tuesday Learning Lab at ASAE’s 2018 Technology Conference & Expo, the lessons from this exercise were applied to the technology integration process in an organization. The approach—led by a panel including Rhea Steele, COO of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation; American Mensa Executive Director and CEO Trevor Mitchell; and DelCor strategic consultants Gretchen Steenstra and Tobin Conley—highlighted the way people collaborate on big projects and how their differences help bring the project together. The session included both broader lessons and interactive elements designed to drive thinking about the ways people work.

It might be an experiment worth trying in your own organization. We won’t spoil for you which shape means what, but you can try the personality test for yourself at speaker Connie Podesta’s website.

Key Resources for Tech Takeaways

There’s a lot to take in at #ASAEtech18, so don’t feel bad if you need a quick refresher or background info on one (or more!) of the topics. The DelCor blog compiled a list of resources relating to this year’s five education pathways: compliance and security, project management and strategy, data exploration and analytics, marketing and content management, and digital engagement and experience.
