Statement On USTR’s Actions In Response To Digital Services Taxes

Washington, DC – Internet Association Director, Trade Policy Jordan Haas issued the following statement on USTR’s actions in response to Digital Services Taxes (DST):

“The French DST is a discriminatory tax that unfairly targets American companies. The administration should be doing more, not less, to combat the rise of go-it-alone DSTs and the delay today sends the wrong message at a critical juncture. While the digital industry does commend the steps, such as the 301 investigation findings released today on India, Italy and Turkey’s discriminatory DST, we encourage more action to stem the tide of DSTs. There’s strong bipartisan support in Congress to combat discriminatory taxation and the internet industry encourages all parties to continue to work within the OECD framework and not move forward with collecting discriminatory taxes.”
