The DevOps Institute is launching a new ambassador program to put people at the forefront of a complex, technical process.

The program is enlisting a team of highly committed volunteers to build resources and community in the field of DevOps, which combines software development and IT operations disciplines and is an increasingly popular way of building software, says the institute’s CEO, Jayne Groll.

“The DevOps Institute is committed to equipping the global and diverse DevOps community with skills and knowledge to confidently compete in today’s digital workforce while nurturing connections and a sense of belonging,” Groll said in a news release. “DevOps Institute Ambassadors are passionate DevOps visionaries who support our mission and are willing to serve as public-facing local, national, and regional representatives to assist the Humans of DevOps in the global DevOps Institute community.”

The institute promotes the SKIL (skills, knowledge, ideas, and learning) Framework to support the development of DevOps professionals. The ambassadors will  contribute content, participate in online forums and community events, and develop other learning opportunities.

The organization plans to bring its ambassadors to cities around the globe. More than 20 volunteers have been announced—five based in the U.S. and others in countries as diverse as Cuba, China, India, and Australia. Some of them have roles with prominent companies such as Red Hat and Equifax.  The institute has posted an open call for more volunteers on its website.

“We’ve got an amazing group of ambassadors from every region across the world with common passion and willingness to contribute towards the Humans of DevOps community by DevOps Institute,” Dheeraj Nayal, global community ambassador for the institute, said in the news release.
