Thousands of school nutrition professionals will make their way to Atlanta in the next few days to learn best practices for creating better financial returns for their school nutrition programs, cooking up healthier school meals, and building stronger outreach in their communities. They’ll also be introduced to the latest services and food products.

Following a series of preconference workshops and education sessions, ANC 2017 will kick off on Sunday afternoon with an opening general session featuring NASA astronauts Mark and Scott Kelly. The Kelly brothers will describe the individual and shared experiences that have shaped their views on teamwork and leadership and helped them to face and overcome adversity. Also on the menu:

Light a spark. New this year in the exhibit hall are Spark Sessions, which will provide insight into a variety of school nutrition topics. These 25-minute interactive sessions will explore new industry resources and give attendees time to ask experts questions.

App with ease. Before the meeting, SNA livestreamed the “2017 ANC Mobile App and More” webinar. Attendees got the inside scoop on everything they needed to know about ANC—from exploring the mobile app to building their own agenda to having a unique conference experience. The webinar was archived so attendees can watch at their own convenience.

Get a taste test. A nutrition conference wouldn’t be complete without opportunities to try out food samples and learn some new food-prep techniques. Culinary demonstrations will show attendees some fresh ways to prepare and serve school meals high in nutritional value.
