The creative well can run dry for even the best social media managers. It’s important to keep up engagement on your social accounts, but some days, coming up with a great content idea feels impossible.

The pros over at Social Media Today are providing dozens of engaging prompts that social media managers can use on a slow day. To start, see if you can get your members talking by asking a question. Try something like, “If you could interview one person in your field, who would it be?” If your followers aren’t typically responsive, ask a few people in your group to get the ball rolling.

To inform your audience, share a nugget of information, such as an industry statistic, an inspiring quote, a news article on a relevant topic, or even a how-to guide. Also consider sharing media coverage that your group has received. Give members a peek behind the scenes of your organization by livestreaming events at your association.

Donors are often the lifeblood of an association. And you need to thank them in a meaningful way.

Beyond sending a personal note to donors, Mary Cahalane of Hands-On Fundraising suggests offering donors a tour of your organization. “Be sure to track those who take you up on the offer (there won’t be many),” Cahalane writes. “They’re likely to be passionate about your cause. Cultivate that passion.”

She also recommends sending a newsletter recognizing and celebrating your donors. And you can thank members by inviting them to small events with association staff and industry influencers. “They’ll remember a pleasant experience and associate it with you,” says Cahalane.
