More than 1,500 administrators, curriculum and technology leaders, teachers, librarians, and champions of education technology are headed to upstate New York this weekend to share and discover innovative ways to engage students, enhance curriculum, and increase productivity.

Following a kickoff reception on Saturday evening, NYSCATE 2018 begins on Sunday morning with an opening keynote. Chris Bashinelli, an activist and host of Bridge the Gap on the PBS and the National Geographic Channel, will empower attendees to become global citizens and contribute to humanity. Also on the agenda:

Get social. The conference’s Social Media Sandbar is a place for attendees to drop by and talk to other conference-goers about how they use social media in their teaching. And for all those selfie fanatics, it’s also home to NYSCATE’s photo booth. Just be sure to tag those snapshots with #NYSCATESelfie.

Go fast. For the first time, NYSCATE will be hosting five-minute lightning presentations on Monday morning. Educators will have only a few minutes to share a tech idea or tool, but the person selected as the top presenter will offer their session again before one of the keynote speakers, putting them in front of a much larger audience.

Give back. Attendees can volunteer to serve as presiders for education sessions. Duties include welcoming and introducing presenters, giving them their gift, and taking a seat count at the beginning and end of the session. As a token of appreciation, all presiders will receive a gift from NYSCATE.
