Best Benefit Ever: Open Webinars for Massage Professionals

A leading massage and bodywork association has torn down a paywall and opened access to educational materials.

What is it? Like other workers with a specialty, bodywork and massage professionals gain proficiency as they learn. That’s why Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals is making continuing education as accessible as possible for members by reducing the cost of its webinars. Previously, members paid $12 per hour, but now, they pay nothing for access to the whole library of more than 100 webinar options. And even if you’re not an ABMP member, you can still register with the association and gain access to a select number of featured videos. Topics range from the specifics of massage techniques to business matters like ethics and marketing.

Why it works: ABMP is confident that it’s making a compelling offer to members and prospects alike. “As a lot of associations move toward trying to boost nondues revenue, especially from certifications and classes, we think this is an interesting shift to attract new members and build member retention,” ABMP President Les Sweeney told Associations Now.

Other benefits: ABMP has a multitude of benefits stretched across many membership tiers and categories. One of its highest tiers, the certified membership, offers a suite of exclusive discounts, priority listing on a referral site, and e-books. And those about to take the challenging massage and bodywork licensing exam can purchase the ABMP Exam Coach to prepare for their entrance into the professional world.
