Following committee meetings and preconference seminars, #ADConf16 will begin on Saturday evening with an opening general session and reception. Boy Named Banjo, a local Americana-Roots band, will perform. Also in the playbook:

Turf tour. Athletic directors consider managing fields one of the more challenging aspects of their job. Plus, there’s been numerous stories raising issues about the health and safety of athletes playing on these surfaces. That’s why attendees can take part in the 2016 Sports Turf Field Day/Seminar at a Nashville-area high school and learn from industry experts about maintaining safe fields.

Around the show floor. The conference’s Exhibit Show will once again host the Passport game. All attendees who complete the Passport game board by visiting select exhibitors will be eligible for drawings to win cash prizes. Two $1,000 prizes, four $500 prizes, and four $250 prizes each day await the lucky winners.

Sports authorities. Both of the meeting’s general session speakers are athletes in their own right. Saturday’s opener is Clark Kellogg, the lead college basketball studio analyst for CBS Sports. Then, on Tuesday afternoon, Kenny Davis, captain of the 1972 U.S. Men’s Olympic basketball team, will close out the conference.
