Conference Circuit: International Society for Technology in Education

The International Society for Technology in Education’s 2019 Conference begins this weekend in Philadelphia. Attendance is expected to top 16,000.

More than 16,000 teachers, technology coordinators, administrators, library media specialists, teacher educators, and policymakers are headed to Philadelphia this weekend to get the skills and knowledge necessary for digital-age learning, try out some of the technology solutions that are changing the ed-tech field, and network with educators from around the world.

Organization: International Society for Technology in Education

Conference: ISTE 2019

Venue: Pennsylvania Convention Center

City: Philadelphia

Following preconference programs on Saturday, ISTE 2019 begins on Sunday evening with a Mainstage session featuring four different speakers. Among them is Pixar Animation Studios’ Director of Photography for Lighting Danielle Feinberg. She’ll talk about the magic found by combining art and technology. Also on the agenda:

Learning preferences. ISTE19 features sessions in several formats to accommodate a variety of learning experiences. Among the options: “explore and create,” which includes extensive audience interaction, and “listen and learn,” a traditional lecture format.

Mind melds. Mind Meetups are crowdsourced conversations where attendees can be the host of a 30-minute chat on a topic of their choosing. Attendees schedule their time online and then meet up with fellow attendees in a relaxed setting.

Exec-level learning. The Leadership Exchange is an invitation-only, three-day program for executive-level leaders. Through lightning talks, interviews, panel discussions, and networking events with ISTE leadership and other school district leaders, participants will get an inside look at how others are tackling systemic challenges and developing solutions to support modern learning.
