Conference Circuit: Next Generation of Nurses

The National Student Nurses’ Association 63rd Annual Convention offers plenty of networking, leadership development, and educational opportunities.

The National Student Nurses’ Association 63rd Annual Convention offers plenty of networking, leadership development, and educational opportunities.

Next week, student nurses will gather in Arizona for the NSNA Annual Convention to enhance their clinical and academic skills and grow their network.

Association: National Student Nurses’ Association

Conference: 63rd Annual Convention

Venue: Phoenix Convention Center

Location: Phoenix

Thousands of nursing students will be even more prepared to enter the workforce after hearing and learning from experts in the field. Opening session keynoter Dr. Gerri Lamb will discuss how nursing students can make the most of this significant time in the healthcare industry and craft a meaningful and satisfying career. Here are three more things that get at the pulse of the meeting:

Goal-getter. In addition to a Career Development Center, the conference will feature the iDream Room, sponsored by the Johnson & Johnson Campaign for Nursing’s Future. Attendees who stop by will learn how to develop a job-search strategy. Career-focused learning sessions will also be held there, and a headshot studio will provide nursing students with a professional image for their social media pages.

Networking, Western-style. Wednesday’s First Night Party, the largest networking event of the convention, has a “Wild, Wild West” theme. Attendees were asked to pack their cowboy boots, 10-gallon hats, and flannel shirts and come prepared to dance, sing karaoke, and make new friends.

Cram session. Graduating seniors can attend the NCLEX-RN Mini Review during the conference, which will help prepare them for the State Board Licensure Examination. The review is 7.5 hours and divided into three segments, but it’s scheduled so that it does not conflict with other education.
