AI is becoming an integral part of our daily lives. How might this evolve in 2024? We’re taking a look at just that through Sidecar’s 10 AI predictions for 2024. Buckle up, because the future is here!

  1. Multi-Modal Models Will Go Mainstream: Say that 10x fast! Imagine chatting with AI that doesn’t just get your words but also understands images, audio, and more. In the year to come, we see natively multi-modal models going mainstream, seamlessly blending text, images, audio, and video. These multi-modal models will handle various types of data inputs and outputs within the same framework.
  1. Open-Source AI Models Will Near GPT-4 Capabilities: In 2024, we see open-source AI models rivalling or even surpassing established models like GPT-4. We're talking about AI models that are not just brilliant but also accessible to everyone. Why is this a good thing? Because, the anticipated rise in open-source models will lead to a more inclusive and collaborative AI field.
  1. Large Scale Deployment of Microsoft 365 Copilot: While Microsoft has been dragging out the release of Copilot, an advanced AI assistant, we expect 2024 to be the year it becomes widely deployed. Integrate Copilot into Microsoft applications to enhance productivity, offering capabilities like summarizing meetings, managing emails, editing documents, and more. It’s safe to say, Copilot will be a huge game changer, transforming how we handle daily tasks and drastically increasing productivity.
  1. Rise of the Common Data Platform (CDP): Associations are realizing that having data scattered across different systems is like trying to make a puzzle with pieces from different boxes. In 2024, we anticipate the adoption of the Common Data Platform (CDP), bringing all that data under one roof for smarter AI applications and true data ownership.

Consumer Expectations for AI-Enabled Brands: Brands without AI-enabled services, particularly in customer support, may be viewed as outdated as AI integration becomes a new standard in consumer expectations. What does this mean for associations in 2024? Start thinking of ways to implement AI within member services and member engagement to reduce friction in your processes because, if you don’t, your members may go looking for their information elsewhere.
  1. AI Misuse in Information Integrity and Cybersecurity: While we’re excited about the positive AI predictions, we can’t deny the expected downsides of AI’s progression in 2024. We expect to see sophisticated AI-driven misinformation like deepfakes, especially in the context of the 2024 elections. We will also be on the lookout for an increase in advanced AI-powered phishing attacks. Stay vigilant!
