Biggest Digital DC Influencers from ChatterBachs: Accepting Nominations
I’m compiling the ChatterBachs list of the biggest digital influencers in the DC area.
ChatterBachs is accepting nominations until April 15th (does this date ring a bell? Because it should!). In the comment section below, please feel free to nominate from one to ten people. Even if they’ve been nominated by another reader before your submission, please do so again as this serves to bolster their position.
Your nomination(s) can be based on their social media presence, blogs, articles, webcasts, podcasts, conference presentations, etc. Another way to look at this is to ask, “If I could only be influenced by ten people in the DC area regarding all things digital, who would they be? If I had to limit myself to the ten people I would most want to read, listen to, or engage with, who would they be?” These individuals could come from any space: associations, nonprofits, events, technology, government, marketing, communications, education, travel, small business, etc. They must be based in the greater Washington, DC area, however. In addition to names, feel free to provide links to their Twitter profile, blog, or other sites where they have a digital footprint.
The ChatterBachs list based on these submissions will be released in late April or in May.
On a final note, the list does not already have a predetermined size like 25, 50, or 100 influencers. It could wind up being very small or much larger, or the list may have an odd number like previous lists 63 people on GovLoop you should know and 111 Intriguing Chats for 2011.

Hi Jay,
A fun exercise, but I’m not sure how to score this. This is the kind of list that inevitably ends up being a popularity contest. How are you defining “digital D.C. influencer”? Influencing who and on what topic(s)? Yesterday I was most influenced by people who were talking about Rand Paul (and “influenced by people who were talking about Rand Paul” is not a sentence I ever thought I’d write) — which would put Rick Dunham on my list. Another day, it’s going to be someone else and a different conversation.
Sorry, but I deleted my Klout account for a reason — I want to connect with people online because they’re interesting and not because of some ranking.

I won’t lie. I had a harder time with this than I thought because I realized how geographically diverse my “influencers” are. But if I’m strictly DC-focused:
I’d have to put you in there @ChatterBachs, and I’d put in @craigsorrell, @DanScheeler, @MandyStahl, @tonbabydc and @Rvanhilst
Primarily it’s because those people, in one respect or another, tweet things that are relevant to my life/profession/interests on a regular basis.
To answer the comment about Klout, with all due respect this is a markedly different type of exercise because it’s asking people for information based on their real experiences instead of a phantom metric that no one is able to vet properly. I’m not trying to be argumentative, more answering the idea of a creative list based on interactive input – I think that this is far more useful.
“..regarding all things digital.” Do you mean whose advice we seek on digital technology or that who are our favorite connections via digital technology?
It could be either, Lynn, but it’s really more the latter.
