The Highlands Ranch Community Association, a master planned community of more than 32,000 homes and 2,000 commercial venues in the Denver suburbs, prides itself on governance and service for its more than 100,000 residents. That dedication recently earned the community the CAI Rocky Mountain Chapter association of the year award.
The annual award recognizes the outstanding team effort of an association board and homeowners who clearly understand their roles and fiduciary responsibilities, says Bridget Sebern, CMCA, chapter executive director.
Highlands Ranch General Manager Mike Bailey believes the association’s governance is what truly sets it apart. “Our neighborhood delegates take an active role in approving annual budgets and expenditures. Coupled with standing committees that routinely address finance and architectural control, (the community) employs a unique checks and balance approach on all its endeavors,” he says.
In addition to the community recognition, Bailey also received the chapter’s community manager excellence in service award, which acknowledges a manager who displays integrity, reliability, commitment, loyalty, and the ability to interact well with board members, managers, service providers and other industry professionals.
Bailey is appreciative of the commendation. “It is a privilege to be nominated and chosen for this award,” he says. “I am honored to work in and serve such a community daily. I work among some of the best industry professionals who consistently strive to do what’s best for the community. I take great pride in the work being done at the Highlands Ranch Community Association.”
Jim Allen, Highlands Ranch association president, also is delighted by the recognition. “We work hard to provide more for our 100,000 residents than a typical association delivers. I am proud of our staff,” he says. “These awards are a direct reflection of their outstanding contribution to the community.”
The chapter’s awards encourage and foster community spirit and cooperation, according to Sebern. “The chapter is an advocate for celebrating those that help our communities be the best they can possibly be, and this is a wonderful way to fulfill that,” she says.
The mission of Highlands Ranch is to enhance and maintain property values and provide a high quality of life. The community offers four state-of-the-art recreation centers, hundreds of fitness classes, and multiple family-friendly events.
Highlands Ranch and Bailey were honored earlier this month at the chapter’s annual celebration. The Rocky Mountain Chapter also recognized the Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club at the event.
