Free professional development resources and events for CAEs, association staff and others in the association community

The weekly list of free educational events and resources for the association community…

Free professional development resources and events for CAEs, association staff and others in the association community

I’ll be at the Association Component Exchange (CEX) next Friday in Arlington VA. Please find me and say hello if you’re there. CEX is the only conference designed exclusively for and by component relations professionals (CRPs)—it’s put on by the CRP community-builders, Billhighway and Mariner Management.

MemberClicks published the ultimate list of association blogs. And guess what? Association Brain Food Weekly is on it. Yeehaw!

The inventor of the web, Tim Berners-Lee has a plan “to decentralize the web and take back power from the forces that have profited from centralizing it. In other words, it’s game on for Facebook, Google, Amazon.” Katrina Brooker at Fast Company explains what he’s up to. I like the sounds of it.

From digital utopia to data utopia… MemberSuite explains how a data governance team can help your association put your data house in order—which means getting to know your data and your members better. This is a utopia well within reach.

One way to fill workforce skills gap in your industry—while rejuvenating your association’s educational offerings—is by adding micro-credentialing programs to the mix. WBT Systems describes the benefits of micro-credentials for your members, industry employers and association.

A few quick hits before we get to this week’s list of free webinars:

  • Be the light or reflect it. I love this necessary and welcome reminder. (Austin Kleon)
  • Why young companies are starting print magazines as a way to help build their brands. It’ll be interesting to see how this turns out. (Adweek)

Off-topic: Check out my Grabbing the Gusto blog for posts about the recipes I’ve made recently or plan to make soon.

Here are the educational events scheduled for next week plus a few extra. If you have any free webinars or events coming up, please send me the link. I’ll be happy to feature it as long as it’s not product-centric.
