Association Brain Food: 11.4.22

The weekly list of free educational events and resources for the association community…

Spearfish Falls outside Spearfish SD – inspiration for my weekly list of free educational events and resources for the association communityNon-dues revenue award. Do you have a program, event or staff experience that connects your association’s mission to business growth? Nominate your association for the Pierre Partnership Award presented by the Professionals for Association Revenue. Nominees do not need to attend the RevUP Summit or even be a PAR member.

Association education survey. Leading Learning invites your participation in a survey about trends affecting the business of lifelong learning, continuing education, and professional development. Find out where organizations plan to focus their efforts in 2023—valuable data for planning and/or making your case for necessary budget approvals.

Industry marketing inspiration. I have not seen either of these series, but I can see how they’d be content marketing inspiration for associations. WBT Systems explains how the strategy behind shows about the Wrexham soccer club and Formula 1 can help your association sell your industry to career changers and job seekers.

Community strategy. The team at Mobilize published a community strategy playbook based on the blueprint they developed for creating their own user community. They guide you step-by-step through creating community strategy, launch, communication and engagement plans—wow, it’s comprehensive and looks like it includes everything you’ll need.

Questions for your board. Jeff De Cagna of Foresight First shares three questions for your senior staff and board to reflect upon individually and then “discuss with candor.” These questions will force you to think differently and reckon with the future—an imperative for responsible stewards.

AI in associations. Few associations use AI right now, maybe because they don’t understand how it could benefit them and their members and how easy it is to start. Sheri Jacobs at Avenue M Group shares three articles from ASAE that may help you get over any AI resistance.

Credit card processors. Growthzone’s guide to selecting a credit card processor is perfect for those of you who need to understand the players and their roles, terminology, fees, rates, hard and soft costs, and security issues. They also suggest topics you should ask about during your discussions with vendors.

Content distribution. Emily Kramer at the MKT1 Newsletter says your content will achieve its goals and make a greater impact if you plan its distribution upfront—and she explains exactly how to do that.

Good eats

Skip down to the list of free educational events if you prefer takeout.

Choose your favorite fish and greens for this yummy green coconut curry—my version, this time, featured yellowfin tuna and collard greens. Underneath, 90-second jasmine rice from Uncle Ben.

Leftover fresh mozzarella balls and basil pesto plus flounder in my seafood share—what to do? I smeared the pesto over the flounder fillets, roughly chopped and sprinkled the mozzarella balls over them along with halved grape tomatoes and parmesan cheese. Into the oven, and you know what? Although overly cheesy, it was really good.

On the side, green beans sautéed with bacon, mushrooms, orange bell pepper, onion, garlic, plus a bit of chicken broth to make sure they cooked through.
