Georgia COVID-19 Pandemic Business Safety Act Goes into Effect August 7; Executive Orders and Public Health Emergency Continue

August 5, 2020 was the deadline for Governor Kemp to sign or veto legislation passed by the Georgia General Assembly in this year’s legislative session. Those bills that the Governor did not sign or veto will now become law as of the legislation’s effective date. This includes Senate Bill 359.

New Disclosure Requirements for Water Damage Insurance Claims in Condominiums Effective January 1, 2021 (GA)

On July 29, 2020, Governor Kemp signed House Bill 1070 amending Code Section 44-3-107 of the Georgia Condominium Act. The new law expressly confirms that condominium associations are not required to obtain insurance related to water damage or water perils.
