Will Blog for ________

See the value in blogging, but don’t know where to start? Want to try a risk-free way to begin? ChatterBachs is conducting a “Will Blog for _______” contest. Until February 29, 2012 (yes, it’s leap year; crazy, I know…) the ChatterBachs team will evaluate all offers to trade products or services for a single blog post (list value $250). This post could be the first of a long-term agreement or perhaps the only one- just to get you started.

These blog posts will not appear on the ChatterBachs blog. You will own the content and may do with it as you wish. We can discuss the voice that will be used.

So, here are just some of the ideas that the ChatterBachs team hopes to see come our way:

  • Round trip flights to exotic locations like New Zealand, South Africa, Italy, Argentina, Omaha, Atlanta, etc.
  • Hotel or resort stays
  • Dining credits or restaurant gift cards
  • Tickets to sporting events, museums, theme parks, and other attractions
  • Bus or train fares to Philly, NYC, and/or Boston
  • So, basically, travel and entertainment stuff… right?
  • T-shirts w/ really cool, customized ChatterBachs images and quotes on them
  • Pens w/ really cool, customized ChatterBachs images and quotes on them
  • Mugs and/or cups w/ really cool, customized ChatterBachs images and quotes on them
  • I think you’re beginning to see a theme here, aren’t you?
  • Fitness club memberships (Hey, we like to stay in shape too!)
  • Spa services (not my thing but…)
  • Video production work
  • Graphic design work
  • Advertising
  • Books, CDs, DVDs
  • Techie gadgets
  • Remodeling work
  • Lawn maintenance (because, hey, most of us would rather be writing than taking care of our yards.)
  • Pool maintenance (I’m not sure any of us actually have a pool, but this is a minor detail.)
  • etc. (and, really, this covers a lot of territory after all… doesn’t it?)

So, maybe you don’t have any of these items, but maybe you know someone who knows someone and there could be a trade for a trade for a trade. You get the idea.

Still don’t know what to do? Or maybe you just think… “What a great idea!” and want to get in on the fun? Anyone who tweets about the “Will Blog for _______” contest with @ChatterBachs and the hashtag #willblogfor in the tweet will be entered to win gift cards! How many and for what amounts will be determined by the number of tweets and retweets (but, let’s put it this way, there will be choices of prizes… and we all like that, don’t we?)

For more details or to pitch an idea our way, please contact Jay Daughtry at 703.430.6411 or jay@chatterbachs.com. Or, if you don’t mind making your proclamation of love for ChatterBachs public, you can leave your offer below. Or you can just leave comments on or feedback about this crazy idea; we like reading those too!

Jay – I need clarification here. Not knowing the Chatterbachs Team, are you a group of writers? Am I reading this correctly that this a contest for companies to get content and writers to get exposure & stuff from them, right? If so, are they creating the stuff with your name & images on it and sending it to you?

Now that I am working in PR and connecting with bloggers, I find that each of these relationships take time and direct culling with the company PR reps or owners to make any exchange. Let me know if you want to discuss more.

Yes, we have a team of writers. Also, Sarah, your understanding is basically correct. Here’s the difference between this and what you may have seen before: this is not to get exposure among a certain segment of bloggers (for example, food, travel, or mommy bloggers) and to their audiences. This would be about content creation for organizations that may not know where to start or that may need additional support. They would own the content, and this initiative could give them their launch into the blogosphere. Let me know if you have more questions or need further clarification
