Internet Association Hires New Head Lobbyist In California

Sacramento, CA – Internet Association (IA) announced today that Dylan Hoffman joined the organization as Director of Government Affairs for the State of California, where he will serve as IA’s head lobbyist in Sacramento. Hoffman previously served as legislative director for California State Assemblyman Jesse Gabriel (D-Encino), where he led a team of staff implementing the member’s key legislative priorities, including significant work in the area of privacy and consumer protection.

“We are pleased to have Dylan join our team and strengthen IA’s 50-state government affairs program,” said Robert Callahan, IA’s Senior Vice President of State Government Affairs. “His experience as a key staffer at the State Capitol on tech policy will be an asset for IA as we continue working with California policymakers to maintain a thriving internet ecosystem.”

The internet sector is 10.1 percent of the state’s overall GDP and employs more than 928,000 people. The state ranks in the top 10 in the nation for ease of doing internet business according to IA research.

Hoffman will lead IA’s advocacy efforts before the California legislature, the governor’s office, and other key decision-making bodies to advance public policy solutions that foster innovation and growth in the internet economy. He will report directly to IA’s Senior Vice President of State Government Affairs, Robert Callahan.

Previously, Hoffman worked for Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon (D-Whittier), advising him on policy related to data privacy and consumer protection, among other issues. He holds a B.A. from University of New Mexico, and a J.D. from UCLA School of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
