The weekly list of free educational events and resources for the association community…
The 11th edition of MGI’s Membership Marketing Benchmarking Report is now available for download. I’ve already used data from the report in a few different blog posts so you’re bound to find something in there that will make you go, “Hmm, that’s interesting (useful, surprising, depressing, encouraging).”
How do you decide which delivery method is best for a new educational program? Instructor-led online course or self-paced online course? Webinar? In-person workshop? WBT Systems describes different factors to consider when making your decision.
What the heck is chapter banking? And how can it benefit your association? After reading this post from Billhighway, chapter banking sounds like a godsend, especially if you have subsidiary chapters, and doubly especially if they’re volunteer-run. I can only imagine the headaches it would eliminate.
Some quick hits before we get to next week’s free webinars:
- The 101 people, ideas and things changing how we work today. (BBC Worklife)
- Five key dynamics that set successful teams apart from other teams at Google—not what you might expect. (Julia Rozovsky, re:Work)
- Some older Americans spend more than 10 waking hours alone—here’s why that could be harmful. (Meera Jagannathan, MarketWatch)
Good eats:
- One of my go-to quick recipes is pan-seared fish in white wine, tomato and basil sauce. I’ve made it with triggerfish, cod and snapper—it’s always tasty. Depending on what’s on hand, I sometimes sub pesto for fresh basil, garlic chives for garlic, or dry vermouth for white wine.
- I made these cornmeal-crusted okra bites, but I soaked the okra first in a buttermilk/hot sauce mixture before dredging them in the spiced cornmeal. They were fine, not super-duper, just fine. Since Jim isn’t a fan of okra, we had lots of leftovers, so…
- …time to repurpose. I chopped up the okra bites, tossed them with some Parmesan cheese and just a bit of panko breadcrumbs, and turned them into a topping for Italian sausage macaroni and cheese. I used an Emeril Lagasse recipe as a guide, but I subbed red bell for the green bell pepper, added Monterey Jack to the cheese mix, and added heavy cream to the milk. Wow, so good.
Here are the educational events scheduled for next week—plus social events going on at ASAE Annual in Columbus. If you have any free webinars or events coming up, please send me the link. I’ll be happy to feature it as long as it’s not product-centric.
