Who is ADDIE? What is ADDIE is the better question. WBT Systems offers a primer on ADDIE, one of the most popular instructional design models. They also describe why and how it’s evolved to become a more agile framework.

Event experience mapping. “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Event Farm shares this Maya Angelou quote in their guide to event experience mapping, an essential technique for planning an event that will hit your attendees’ sweet spot and deliver your desired business outcomes.

Meet me in the metaverse. Not the experience you’re probably expecting for your next event but… check out what Event MB’s Angela Tupper discussed with event technologist Brandt Krueger about the present and future of immersive online event experiences. Virtual networking advice. A while back, Matchbox Virtual Media and Kaiser Insights facilitated a virtual networking incubator. They released a roundup of what they learned and, wow, you need to read this PDF (the link is in their post) before planning your next virtual conference, educational program or event.

Inclusion at work. Donald Thompson at The Diversity Movement suggests ten things you can do today to create a more inclusive work environment. I feel like this is the kind of thing we all have to repeatedly read so we can be more intentional about the way we interact with others.

  • My oh my, this chicken with mustard dish is fantastic, a keeper for sure. I made it with half the chicken but all the sauce and served it with roasted root vegetables and leftover broccoli/cauliflower mash. I like the better suggestion of serving it with herbed pasta or mashed potatoes to sop up all the delicious sauce.
  • Another night, we had speckled trout a la Mummy Lorraine—the fillets are topped with a mix of crushed Ritz crackers, lemon zest, garlic powder and melted butter. On the side, a nuked/baked sweet potato and leftover sautéed greens.
  • I’ve been jonesing for clam dip so I pulled out my old recipe and nearly ate it all for dinner. My recipe was inspired by one from Gourmet, now on Epicurious. I reduce the bacon by half, add sautéed onion, red bell pepper and garlic, along with heaping spoons of horseradish, and this time I substituted dill for basil and chives for scallions since that’s what I had on hand.
