The weekly list of free educational events and resources for the association community…
Despite what you may think, if you’re targeting a 50+ audience, you need a digital plan, says AARP in a Think with Google article. And here’s one from Tim Ebner at Associations Now about AARP’s “priming the pump” strategy for one of their targeted prospect demographics.
On the other side of the age bracket, WBT Systems explains how to attract the interest of millennials: help them get a job by providing online learning and early-career resources.
The modern anxieties described in this New York Times article about “reaffirming your faith in the internet” sound pathetic to me. All you have to do is make better decisions about how you want to spend your time on and off the web—it’s really that simple. I feel bad for this guy, he really does need a hobby to help him “find a saner, friendlier corner of the internet than the social-networking feeds [he’s] addicted to.” Welcome to the real world. Off my soapbox.
“Newsletters are immortal—and so is news of their death and rebirth,” says Dave Pell, who shares six tips for publishing excellent newsletters. He should know—he writes one of my favorite evening newsletters.
Process Street explains why Spotify is really good at converting free listeners to paid subscribers. What can you learn from their practices and apply to your marketing tactics?
And a few more quick hits before we get to this week’s list of free webinars:
- The end of digital marketing is near—but fear not. (Christopher S. Penn)
- Confession: I have a major tsundoku habit—that’s Japanese for buying more books than you can read. (BBC News)
- People don’t buy products, they buy better versions of themselves. (Zander Nethercutt)
Off-topic: Check out my Grabbing the Gusto blog for posts about the recipes I’ve made recently or plan to make in the coming week.
Here are the educational events scheduled for next week plus a few extras. If your organization has a free webinar or event coming up, please send me the link. I’ll be happy to feature it as long as it’s not product-centric.
