Your weekly list of free webinars and events for the association community…
Peggy Hoffman says we have to get rid of the “V” word: volunteers. What the what? She makes three (if I remember correctly) insightful arguments to back up that statement on a recent episode of Association Chat. I like listening to it as a podcast (the link above) but you can also watch the replay on Crowdcast.
If you haven’t tuned into Association Chat lately, host KiKi L’Italien has made some changes. She now has two co-hosts, Tamela Blalock and Nabil Hassan El-Ghoroury, with whom she discusses interesting news items at the start of the show. Tune in live every Tuesday at 2 p.m. EDT or listen to the podcast or video replay later.
How do you prepare yourself and your organization for the future? George Barbee, author of 63 Innovation Nuggets, recommends building your foresight network and improving your imagining practice.
One thing every leader must develop for the future: an analytics mindset and skills. If you need a DIY approach to analytics, take a look at Debbie King’s advice for creating an analytics strategy and roadmap at the Association Analytics blog.
Here’s some practical advice from Forbes about how to get staff to actually use that expensive new tech system. I like their suggestions for training and for getting staff involved at the design phase. Smart.
If any of you have taken a CAE cram course and then not passed, I think I know why—your learning wasn’t spaced. WBT Systems explains why spaced learning works and how you can build it into your online learning programs.
If your organization has a webinar scheduled in the near future, please send me the link. I’ll be happy to feature it as long as it’s not too product-centric.
