We may think membership is economically priced. After all, look at the value and the comparative costs of membership for associations like ours. Our members may think membership is priced too high because of its impact on their budget or personal wallet. We may think membership is a great value.

Surprised by the high price of registration and my estimated travel cost, I pressed delete. I had a half hour before my next meeting, and I spent the time browsing the association’s website looking at their events, research reports, and online community. As you can probably imagine, neither inspired me to renew.
