Treasury Issues Guidance on Fringe Benefits Tax

New guidance from the Treasury Department provides some certainty to associations about how to handle their new tax liability for parking and mass transit benefits provided to employees. Meanwhile, ASAE and others continue to press for repeal of the provision. While congressional leaders worked this week to repeal the new fringe benefits tax on nonprofits, the Treasury Department issued interim guidance on December 10 to help soften the tax blow on the sector.
