Summer School? No, time to evaluate LMS performance

WBT Systems

How to ensure School’s NOT Out for Summer. Those dreaded words from years ago….summer school. The mere mention of them sent chills through students that were just getting by. No vacation, no trips to the beach with friends, just you and the almost as miserable teacher. The last thing you wanted to do on the summertime was more learning! However, the summertime is a great time to evaluate your current learning management system and the training courses your organization offers.

Association Brain Food Weekly: 6.27.16

Reid All About it

I’ve been thinking about morning habits, again. Last spring, after reading The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod, I developed morning habits like exercise, meditation, reading, and gratitude journaling that stuck with me for quite a while. Et voilà, my productivity increased. But after a while, I lost my mojo and the habits faded. I picked these habits back up recently and, of course, my energy and productivity increased again.

Your community looks absolutely stunning. The colors, graphics and font all work perfectly with each other. Everyone compliments you. But there’s one big problem. No one can figure out how to use it. It’s not that you didn’t have a great design team. Or that you weren’t trying to be successful. You just got caught up in making your online community look pretty before thinking about how it was going to be used.

Have you ever considered how you or your presenters introduce new content to learners? Last year I had the opportunity during a site visit with a client to partake in The Adventure Park at Virginia Aquarium. If you’re ever in the area, you absolutely have to check it out. The technology is quite remarkable within the outdoor recreation industry – and the memories, particularly if you’re new to climbing, will last a lifetime.

How digital is your workforce?

Optimist Consulting

In my work with my clients, I see digital transformation in the membership sector, first-hand. So I was very interested recently to come across a digital skills toolkit from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), which I think will help many membership organisations to develop the digital skills of their staff. Building a digital workforce is specifically designed to help organisations plan, design and deliver a digital skills development programme for their workforce, but what

It’s simple: online communities are the most efficient tool for knowing what your customers think, predicting what they’ll do or need, and retaining them for the long-term. I’m not going to name names, but I saw a company promote a webinar on Twitter just two days before holding it—that was the first time they mentioned it on Twitter. I’m guessing they announced it to their email list but wouldn’t you want to get more leads by sharing it more widely?

Truth is, the culture of many associations continually drives them to try and do more with less. They get trapped into thinking things can get done on a shoestring. But they can't, at least not the big picture goals most associations set for themselves.
