Question of the Week | August 9, 2021

Question of the Week for August 9, 2021: What is your favorite back-to-school memory from when you were a child?

In the United States, children are beginning to head back to school. This question might spark some memories for you, positive or negative (or both!), that help you connect to this time of year and the mindset of so many others at this moment.

Were you someone who looked forward to school starting or did you hate thinking about it? Did you love the smell of new school supplies or did the new shirts you wore to school make you break out in a rash? There are no right or wrong answers….just experiences.

My take:

I loved school. Going to a new year of school was exciting! I figured that even if the year didn’t go the way I liked, experiencing something new and different had to be better than staying the same. I mostly loved my teachers, too. It was interesting to find out about their likes and dislikes. Sometimes I was a teacher’s pet, but other times, no matter what I did, the teacher didn’t seem to pay much attention to me. I learned so much from those years and from the evolution of friends and study.

And I absolutely LOVED the smell of fresh school supplies. I still do.
