Make Google Love You with Killer Web Content

Everyone wants to have their website show up in searches, but the question is how do you make that happen? After a fabulous discussion with MSAE's Communications Networking Group, Tara Loftus led us through some great tips on SEO.

Here are the top takeaways and resources:

  • The Six C's of Killer Web Content (who cares, is it compelling, is it clear, is it complete, is it concise and is it correct) - Gerry McGovern
  • When in doubt - cut it out, when in doubt - spell it out
  • To view website source on any website, right click and select View Source Code
  • To find out what keywords your organization should use on your website, make a list every time someone calls with what they are asking for
  • Absolutely no click here's on your website - Google doesn't like them
  • Keyword links should match title and descriptions
  • I'm not technical is not an excuse any more!
  • Every month pick a page on your website and ask yourself "how can I make this better?"
  • Make sure your page descriptions are tied to the content on that page
  • Know the difference of writing content for your organization and writing for the reader
  • Use key words, titles, descriptions, headers, content and links on every webpage for optimal search results
  • No one reads websites, everyone scans
