Excuse me while I go completely off-topic but some of you will appreciate this. If you love to hike in the mountains and desert, make plans to spend some time in Big Bend National Park in far west Texas. I just got back from several days hiking in and around the park. Oh. My. Good golly, it was beautiful and awesome in the true sense of that word. One of my favorite national park experiences, if not the favorite. In case you were wondering, my other top parks are Capitol Reef, Zion and Canyonlands in that order. Yes, I have a thing for red rocks and high desert.
