Statement On Internet Industry Letter Calling For Additional Funds For The Technology Modernization Fund

Washington, DC – Internet Association Director of Cloud Policy Omid Ghaffari-Tabrizi issued the below statement following the industry-wide request for additional funding for the Technology Modernization Fund (TMF) as part of President Biden’s call for IT modernization to be a significant component of the “American Rescue Plan”:

“The internet industry appreciates President Biden’s leadership in proposing much needed financial support for the Technology Modernization Fund and our nation’s efforts to modernize and secure our information technology infrastructure. In this age of remote-first working, learning, and playing, it is the public cloud that has been the lifeline keeping us together. Making sure the bulk of the proposed funding is available for immediate use rather than just those subject to a repayment plan will provide the federal workforce with the same advances in technology, cybersecurity, and user experience that every other American received. IA looks forward to Congressional leadership in showing one of the hardest working groups within the American workforce – career civil servants – the support they need to succeed in this modern, digital era.”
