Conference Circuit: Water Professionals

The 16th Annual KY/TN Water Professionals Conference begins this weekend in Louisville. Attendance is expected to exceed 1,700.

More than 1,700 water industry professionals from Tennessee and Kentucky are headed to Louisville this weekend to take part in technical sessions, network with each other, and see the latest equipment in action.

Organizations: Kentucky-Tennessee Water Environment Association and Kentucky/Tennessee Section of the American Water Works Association

Conference: 16th Annual KY/TN Water Professionals Conference

Venue: Kentucky International Convention Center

City: Louisville, Kentucky

Following a Meet and Greet Reception on Sunday evening, WPC19 kicks off on Monday morning with an opening session and awards ceremony. Also on the agenda:

Healthy competition. The conference features several contests, including Top-Ops—considered the “college bowl of the water industry”—and a water taste test. There’s also the pipe-tapping contest where water utility teams race to open a cement-lined, ductile iron pipe and install a tap.

Next generation. The conference includes a YP day, where young professionals who are 35 and under are invited to attend for a reduced registration fee. They’ll have the opportunity to take part in a YP-focused technical program and get to know each other and seasoned industry professionals during a social hour.

Fun for all. The day before the meeting starts, the conference will host Water for Life. This free, family-friendly event will teach the local Louisville community all about water quality, wastewater treatment, and how water is recycled.
