Council versus Counsel

Another association management word confusion ...

Council is a group or body of government.
Counsel is an attorney, person or advice.

This just occurred last week in the Bangor Daily News... and the reporter was quoting Linda Gifford, Legal Council of the Maine Association of Realtors. I sent an email to the reporter reminding her that Linda was a Legal Counsel, and she did reply that she knew better but it got by her.
