From Field to Future: Learning from the Eagles’ Loss to Elevate Association Marketing with AI

My husband’s disappointment with the Eagles and their season-ending loss to Tampa Bay has permeated our household this week.

It’s sad witnessing how he is processing the disappointment and emotion.

He loves his team.

He hates his team.

The unpredictability of sports outcomes is like the dynamic nature of association marketing – just as sports fans can’t predict game outcomes, associations often face challenges in predicting member engagement and market trends.

Especially when many elements are changing all around them.

Tech developments like generative AI, workforce changes, disruption of trade routes due to Houthi rebels, …there is much change happening at the moment for many industries.

The Heart of Loss and Opportunity

But when there are disappointing losses, sports teams analyze them to improve future performance. Teams use data and technology to understand their weaknesses and strategize for future games.

Associations can similarly use AI and marketing technologies to analyze their current strategies, understand member needs, and predict future trends. This is where opportunity awaits us.

Embracing Change and Learning from Disappointment

As my husband continues to process the Eagles’ end this season, I will try to remember that in every setback lies an opportunity for growth and improvement, both on the football field and in association marketing.

This won’t make him any happier, but that’s the thing about resilience and sports fans like my husband…just like Eagles fans will continue to support their team through ups and downs, associations must adapt and evolve their strategies in the face of challenges.

Ultimately, I know my husband will be happier with a beer delivery, and association marketers will be happier with happier members.

Not a bad lesson for a snowy day outside Philadelphia.
