ASAE 2014 Kicks Off in Music City
While the sessions didn’t get started until Sunday, the Naylor team and I enjoyed spending Saturday learning from a group of association executives who shared their struggles, concerns, successes and advice for other execs in recorded interviews that will appear in future episodes of Association Adviser TV, GSAEtv and CalSAE TV.
In the photo on the right, I’m talking with Michael Hoehn, the executive vice president for Consulting Management Innovators about what he sees as the future for board structures. The interviews continued Sunday and more are planned for today. I can’t wait to see all the great content we come home with!
The Naylor team had a great night Saturday night celebrating the kick-off to the ASAE 2014 Annual Meeting. Despite a wet start to the evening festivities, attendees enjoyed performances in the Omni’s Barlines, from stars of the TV show “Nashville” Sam Palladio (Gunnar Scott), Aubrey Peeples (Layla Grant) and Chris Carmack (Will Lexington).
Once the rain tapered off Charles Esten and Clare Bowen, who play Deacon Claybourne and Scarlett O’Connor on “Nashville,” took the stage ahead of headliner Dierks Bentley (pictured below). The evening ended with a beautiful fireworks display that lit up the sky behind the stage that had been erected on 5th Street.
On Sunday, the fun started bright and early with a great keynote from author and professor Adam Grant, and the opening of the show floor, where we unveiled our new look and brand as Naylor Association Solutions. Did you get by to see us? If not, make sure to swing by booth 606 today, and say hello.
One of the best things about attending an ASAE event is getting to see the new ideas and trends in meeting and events. I loved the idea of the Bite Sized Learning Sessions I spotted out in the Engagement Lounge. The sessions are each a quick 15 minutes, and are offered on different topics.
The charging station lockers located around Music City were also a welcome sight, and one that I don’t remember seeing at a show in the past. Anyone who’s had their phone drain down too quickly at a conference knows how lifesaving a charging station can be.
