On August 6, I take off my staffer hat and put on my member hat as I head to St. Louis for ASAE11. If you remember from a previous post, I submitted a proposal for a session at ASAE11 that was eventually rejected. The rejected proposal led to a bigger challenge that forces me out of my comfort zone.

I contacted one of my fellow lobbyists and over the course of the next three months developed a draft proposal. We reviewed and edited, counting down to that fateful Friday in December when I submitted the proposal.

“Right to Farm” Amendment Stirs Up Passions in Missouri

The amount raised by groups for and against Missouri’s Amendment 1 since January 1, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. A proposed amendment to the Missouri Constitution that’s up for a vote on Tuesday sounds a little odd: It would codify the right to farm and ranch in a state known for farming and ranching.

Though I did not realize it at the time, ASAE Annual Conference 2011 in St. Louis was a turning point in my career. Path to Sharing – ASAE ’11 was where I first learned about the process of session proposals for additional conferences throughout the year. I went in literally knowing no one. I am a CAE. I am an active volunteer.
