Conference Circuit: Nuclear Cardiology

The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology’s 23rd Annual Scientific Session begins next week in San Francisco, with more than 1,000 healthcare professionals in attendance.

More than 1,000 cardiologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, practice administrators, nuclear technologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals will head to San Francisco next week to explore the latest innovations, network with experts and peers in the field, and gain practical knowledge.

ASNC2018 begins on Thursday afternoon with a keynote featuring Tait Shanafelt, MD, chief wellness officer and director of the Stanford WellMD Center. Shanafelt, a researcher on physician well-being and burnout, will discuss how to find meaning, balance, and professional fulfillment in the practice of medicine. Also on the agenda:

On-the-go learning. Walk and Learn Tours will allow attendees to earn continuing education credits and explore San Francisco attractions, while discussing new developments in nuclear cardiology with ASNC past presidents. Options include a food and wine tour or an excursion to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

Future focus. During the “Machine Learning, Medicine, and Imaging: The Future Is Now” sessions, representatives from IBM Watson Health Imaging, Google, Siemens Medical Solutions, and Arterys will offer deep dives on machine learning, molecular imaging, and more fast-evolving innovations.

Stimulating simulations. The “Cases With the Aces” track will put attendees in small-group sessions with faculty from premier nuclear cardiology training programs, including Yale University and the Mayo Clinic. They’ll use software to simulate day-to-day imaging interpretation.
