The Texas Distance Learning Association’s 2016 Annual Conference begins early next week in San Antonio.

About 400 distance-learning administrators, designers, instructors, producers, programmers, consultants, and trainers will spend a few days in San Antonio to hear about the latest technology, network with peers, and find out what’s next for the industry.

The 2016 TxDLA Annual Conference will start on Monday evening with a welcome reception and exhibit hall grand opening. Then, on Tuesday morning, Dr. Lance Ford will deliver a keynote and discuss his work of incorporating video technology for students at all levels and getting teachers to engage with the tools. Also on the agenda:

Eight tracks. This year’s conference features eight different learning tracks that are top of mind for those in the field. Among them is accessibility, which focuses on how to provide equal access and opportunity to people with disabilities through accessible design of online courses, websites, and other internet-based resources, as well as cybersecurity and data analysis.

On the hunt. The meeting will feature a fun and easy Twitter scavenger hunt. Participants will be given three “missions” and have the option to participate in as many of them as they’d like. Among the tasks is to take a selfie with one of the presenters. TxDLA will then randomly select one winner for each mission to win a cool prize.

Meeting advocate. TxDLA is asking attendees to spread the word about the conference. On its list are participating in its “member-get-a-vendor” campaign, hanging a downloadable flyer in their organization’s central area, or adding “flair” to their websites, blogs, and email signatures using predesigned logos.
