The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies 105th Annual Meeting begins in Arizona this weekend.

Hundreds of leaders from fish and wildlife agencies and conservation groups from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico are headed to Tucson, Arizona, to discuss conservation policy and management issues and accomplishments.

Association: Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies

Conference: 105th Annual Meeting

Venue: JW Marriott Starr Pass

Location: Tucson, Arizona

The 105th Annual Meeting of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, starting Sunday, will include a plenary session featuring keynoter Christine Jones, former executive vice president and general counsel for GoDaddy, who will speak on how to use web-based services to speak with potential customers in new ways. Three other items on the schedule worth calling out:

Lean in. The meeting will include a Women in Wildlife Conservation Social on Sunday evening. After a one-hour hike near the resort, women in the profession will have a chance to  connect and learn from each other at a wine and cheese reception.

Western welcome. The meeting’s opening reception will take place at Old Tucson, the Old West town that famously served as the setting for more than 300 movies and TV shows. Going beyond its rich film history, Old Tucson is southern Arizona’s premier location for a true Western experience. Attendees will enjoy living-history presentations, tours, and some surprises.

Dry conditions. The meeting will include a special three-hour afternoon forum on the timely issue of prolonged drought and how the conservation community is responding to its effects on fish and wildlife across multiple states. A series of expert panelists will explore policy challenges, opportunities, and solutions.
