Working with five major African-American-owned newspapers, LMA is using its recently launched accelerator program to help the papers expand digital revenue. Five big-city papers— The Atlanta Voice , The Dallas Weekly , New York Amsterdam News , Houston Defender , and The Washington Informer —are pilot papers in the initiative.

According to Texas Welcomes All, the state has already lost $66 million in revenue due to cancellation of events that were to have been held in Austin, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and Arlington.

Council approval would allow SACVB to seek 501(c)(6) status, giving it the ability to bring in revenue from fundraising, corporate sponsorships, partnerships, advertising, and membership dues in addition to city funding. Increased marketing efforts will also give vendors greater visibility.
