A few years ago, on a visit to my aunt in Rhode Island, I was inspired by the bean salad she made, so I developed my own recipe with additional inspiration from Our State It’s been a Fourth of July tradition ever since—a tradition made even more meaningful because the Fourth is my aunt’s birthday.
