Blockbuster is often cited as a clear example of a company whose business model was disrupted completely, leading to its eventual demise. While it experienced huge growth in the 1980s and 1990s, frustrations with some of its practices—most notably its late-fee system, which Blockbuster ended in 2005 —left a sour taste with many consumers.
