An Alternate Strategy Waiters and bartenders are among the lowest-paid workers in the U.S. Of the 329 nonprofits that responded to the survey, 77 percent of those that had an opinion said they supported increases to the minimum wage. The federal minimum wage for workers who also earn tips is $2.13 per hour if some conditions were met.
