Walk Alongside Fear

Reid All About it

The word ‘fearless’ was literally front and center this year at the digitalNow conference. In the opening and closing sessions, digitalNow’s Hugh Lee and Don Dea talked about the need for association execs to be fearless. The choice of ‘fearless’ as the unofficial conference motto irked me. I understand why people find ‘fearless’ inspiring. With all the challenges facing associations and the people who run them, you can’t let fear influence your decisions.

Eric Lanke

There is a clear and important reason that associations are organized as non-profit organizations, and it isn't so they can get out of paying taxes. My musings in this regard were inspired by this post by Anna Caraveli on The Demand Networks blog. Titled, Are you Marching to your Board’s or your Customers’ Pace? , the post explores the difficult and important territory of slow-moving associations growing increasingly obsolete, either because they disenfranchise younger members or because they lo

Four Reasons Your Marketing Team Needs Community

Higher Logic

Could your marketing department benefit from your organization’s community? It doesn’t matter what your community is for or why your organization decided to establish one -- it can be a powerful tool for your marketing department. No, that doesn’t mean you can dump all your marketing materials on top of your community members, or that you should blatantly upsell them certain products (community can help with cross promotion if done correctly).

So Your Members Want to Add More Communities?

Higher Logic

Members love your community. In fact, they love it so much they want to create their own, smaller communities for specific groups of people. One enthusiastic group wants a community dedicated entirely to just one of your new products.
