Taking advantage of a June Labor Department ruling that expanded association health plans to create more access to affordable health coverage for small businesses and their employees, three southern Nevada chambers of commerce have joined forces to offer an AHP to their members.

“This is a practical and temporary solution that will lessen the pain for some businesses and communities in Utah during this shutdown,” Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell said in a statement about the decision reported by the AP. South Dakota reportedly worked with several corporate donors to reopen Mount Rushmore on Monday.
